8th Annual Forensic Science Symposium

Overview

Mayo Clinic’s 8th Annual Forensic Science Symposium will cover a variety of topics including drug overdoses in the opioid epidemic, forensic anthropology, and lean management in the autopsy laboratory. The symposium will also feature presentations on injuries from various heights, car seat asphyxiation, and other case studies.

Intended audience: This course is designed for M.D. (Medical Examiner, Coroner), Ph.D., PA(ASCP), Death Investigators, County Attorneys, Funeral Directors, Crime Technicians, and Law Enforcement Officers interested in forensic science.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how to integrate techniques of lean management within the laboratory.
  • State examples of injuries sustained from falls and differentiate between those incurred from a variety of heights.
  • Identify findings relevant in asphyxiation fatalities to render the most accurate final diagnosis.
  • Recognize drug overdose cases in the community
  • Describe some of the unique details of opioid-related overdoses.

This course is approved for 7.00 ABMDI credit hours by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI). Attendees should claim only those hours of continuing education that they spent in the educational activity.

If you cancel your participation in this conference on or before March 23, 2023, your registration fee, less a $50 administrative fee, will be refunded. Mayo Clinic Laboratories Education Department must receive written notification of your cancellation. No refunds will be made after March 23, 2023.
